14 indulgent grooming gifts for him this Father’s Day

Dads tend to have everything they need and little of what they want, and the bathroom shelf is where that gap shows most. Many of them are content to use one bar of soap from head to toe. A thoughtful grooming gift fixes that: a good fragrance, a proper shaving routine, skincare made for a man’s schedule.

This edit keeps to the theme of indulgent picks, from Le Labo and Byredo scents to Sisley skincare, Aesop masks and shaving kits. It also checks what you can confirm today, 28 October 2026, for the next occasion.

Fragrance: the gift he will actually wear

The safest luxury bet is still Dior Sauvage. The original list described it as built on juicy bergamot and a strong woody note from ambroxan, an ingredient derived from ambergris. Dior’s own site shows the family has since grown well beyond the classic bottle. It now covers Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum, Parfum and Elixir, plus an alcohol-free Eau Forte. Dior’s US site listed the Eau de Parfum from US$95 for a 30ml bottle in a 2025 promotion, and Elixir from US$199 for 60ml.

If he already owns a bottle, Dior’s grooming line is the easier add-on. Its US site lists Sauvage shaving gel and after-shave balm at US$76 each, shower gel at US$53, and a stick deodorant at US$38. There are also gift sets, including a Sauvage Gift Set Trio 2026 Edition with shampoo, Elixir and shower gel at US$311.

The rest of the original fragrance picks leaned towards niche and woody:

  • Le Labo The Noir 29: a minimalist bottle with bergamot, fig and bay leaf, then cedarwood, vetiver and a dry black tea heart.
  • Byredo Sunday Cologne: bergamot, star anise and cardamom on top, geranium, incense and lavender at the heart, and vetiver, moss and patchouli underneath.

Skincare and shaving for the man who skips both

Skincare was the list’s strongest theme. Sisley’s Supremya Eyes All Night was pitched at stressful, sleepless nights, with a creamy formula meant to smooth fine lines and reduce puffiness. The Sisleyum Anti-Age Global Revitaliser was a gel for men with shea butter and wild pansy extract, which could also be used after shaving to calm razor burn. Sisley’s Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream, the newest of the three at the time, was the one you might borrow yourself. Bergdorf Goodman has listed it in its men’s grooming section at US$270.

Dior Homme Dermo System Age Control Firming Care was a lightweight, zinc-containing serum that doubled as an aftershave. Aesop’s Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque was the home-spa pick, aimed at redness, excess oil and impurities.

For shaving, there are two routes:

  • The ritual kit: Baxter of California’s vintage-style three-piece set, with nickel-plated pieces, polished chrome tops and a barbershop pole engraving. Buly 1803’s Creme Pogonotomienne shaving cream went with it, scented with hinoki wood and softened with sweet almond oil.
  • The easy upgrade: Aesop’s Moroccan Neroli Shaving Duet pairs a prep serum with a soothing post-shave lotion. Sheerluxe’s grooming gift guide featured it in 2026 at a discounted £53.60 against a usual £67. David Jones also lists the Moroccan Neroli Shaving Serum on its own, described as a low-foaming formula that softens skin for a smoother shave.

Hands, hair and the small tools

Good grooming does not stop at the face. Byredo’s Vetyver hand cream was chosen as a light, non-greasy balm with pomelo, violet, jasmine, vetiver and cashmeran. The Czech & Speake leather-bound manicure set held German-made tools in a case small enough for business trips. Aesop’s Reverence Aromatique Hand Balm is another option. David Jones describes it as a deeply hydrating treatment with a woody scent.

For hair, the original list suggested Patricks M3 matte pomade for thick, unruly hair. It was a strong-hold formula scented with labdanum and patchouli, with saw palmetto, red clover and sage in the mix. For dads with something tamer on top, Buly 1803’s tortoiseshell acetate rake comb was hand-shaped in Switzerland and polished by hand. It has wide-set teeth to avoid damaging the hair and comes in a soft pouch.

Dior’s Sauvage grooming range has its own take on hair care. Its US site lists a Hydrating Shampoo at US$59 and a Hair Serum at US$90, both described as new and exclusive, and a Bath & Body Gift Set at US$240.

The common thread in every pick is that it is something he is unlikely to buy for himself.
