In May 2015, Yoon Eun Hye arrived in Singapore with a tomato-red lip, matching nails and a freshly cut hairstyle. She was there as L’Oréal Professionnel’s first Asian ambassador, and the aim of the hair show at Singapore Fashion Week was to introduce the V Look to local hairstylists, billed as the first Korean face-slimming haircut and colour service. In a short interview around the event, she also described a surprisingly pared-back beauty routine.
The moment in Singapore
It had been four years since she was last in Singapore. At the show, celebrity stylist Cha Hong demonstrated her take on the look. The service relies on layered cutting, plus colouring that mixes lighter and darker shades to contour, conceal or correct depending on face shape. Female magazine reported that it was due to launch on 1 June at selected L’Oréal Professionnel salons, from S$200.
The actress spoke about the look in her own terms. She said her naturally round face had long been a concern. Months later, she was quoted by The Star saying hair dye can be as powerful as makeup in changing the look of a face shape.
How she kept it simple
Speaking in May 2015, she said she could be lazy about beauty. On ordinary days she often used a single product on her face, an oil. For important events she added many more steps.
She rarely wore makeup day to day. A lotion and a lipstick gave her a little glow. She named exfoliating once a week as important, and she called cleansing a key part of both skincare and makeup.
Her bag essentials were four items:
- a facial mist, because her skin is dry;
- an all-in-one lotion;
- L’Oréal Professionnel’s Mythic Oil for her hair;
- a bright lipstick.
Lipstick first, then edit everything else
Her main makeup rule was to let a bold lip do the work. With a bright lipstick, she said, the rest of the face needs less. Anyone with reasonable brows should not overdo the shading or heavy eyeliner. If the look felt too plain, she suggested a cream eyeshadow or a cheek product in a shade that matches the lipstick.
Protecting hair that is coloured and permed
Her work on shows and dramas meant frequent perming and colouring. Split ends and damaged hair were her main worries.
She dabbed Mythic Oil onto the ends in small drops, and she warned against using too much, since it can flatten volume. For anyone who did not want oil on the hair directly, she suggested adding one or two drops to a basin of water and rinsing the hair with it.
What she regretted, and what she shares now
Asked about beauty regrets, she did not blame a single product. She said bad results usually came from several things combined, such as the condition of her skin and the products she used. She gave puffiness as an example, saying her skin absorbed products poorly when she was puffy.
In February 2025, about ten years after the Singapore visit, she posted a makeup and care tutorial on her YouTube channel, allkpop reported. In it she appeared bare-faced and explained her routine. She said she wears a hair cap often to help nourish her hair, and that skin must be moisturised by spraying a mist before makeup. It echoed the mist she had named as a daily essential in 2015.
The same video showed her base makeup method. She mixed foundation and BB cream to create a dewy complexion. She also brightened the inner corners of her eyes with a subtle pearl shade.
