Have a Magical Christmas at Capitol Piazza

Each December, the outdoor plaza at Capitol Piazza on Stamford Road, in Singapore’s civic district, is dressed for Christmas. In 2025, the programme at Capitol Singapore ran until 25 December, with snowfall evenings, a daily market, carols and light shows.

Capitol Piazza is the retail heart of the Capitol Singapore development. The development includes the Capitol Theatre, the Eden Residences and The Capitol Kempinski Hotel. It was partially opened in late March 2015, after a restoration of the whole complex.

The Christmas formula

The plaza has long hosted festive events. Earlier editions included Christmas Carousel markets in 2015 and 2016, a Makers’ Market Christmas Edition in December 2016, and The Season of Joy in December 2019.

Time Out has described the setup as a European-inspired Christmas market. It lists cookies, colourful log cakes, mulled wine, ornaments and handmade gifts, along with a skating rink and a foamy snowfall. It also mentions a seven-metre-tall singing tree and a Santa who took wishlists. Entry was free.

Christmas 2024

The 2024 season ran until 25 December. The plaza had a European theme, according to SETHLUI. Voices of Singapore and child carollers from The Original Folks sang from the Singing Tree. This happened every Friday to Sunday from 1 December, and on Christmas Day. The Ecuadorian group SISAY performed Andean music on 21 and 22 December.

Vendors were invited to take stalls in the sheltered open-air plaza from 1 to 25 December, 11am to 9pm. A stall cost S$380 for a seven-day rental. The organisers also listed snowfall on the plaza on nights from 15 November to 25 December.

Christmas 2025

The 2025 programme paired Capitol Singapore with CHIJMES. The Honeycombers reported that Capitol’s outdoor plaza held a market from 5 to 25 December, daily from 12pm to 9pm. It was lined with handmade gifts and lifestyle finds.

Snowfall sessions ran in the evenings from 14 November to 31 December 2025, from 7pm to 9pm, with a 10-minute duration mentioned. The exception was 29 to 31 December at Capitol Singapore. SETHLUI noted that carols filled the air at the Singing Tree on weekends, and that CHIJMES had its own weekend market.

Christmas 2026

As of October 2026, a roundup of Singapore Christmas markets from Sassy Mama lists the Capitol Singapore market with its Singing Tree. It gives the timing as an estimated December 2026, with exact dates still to be announced. Admission was listed as free. The roundup mentions handcrafted goods, apparel and accessories, plus snowfall sessions on select days.

The programme has changed from year to year, so the line-up, stall details and timings for December 2026 are best checked with Capitol Singapore once they are published. Capitol Piazza is at 13 Stamford Road, Singapore 178905. It is linked by an underground passageway to City Hall MRT station.

The plaza is sheltered but open-air. The 2024 vendor notice described it as an open-air sheltered plaza.
